About Bias by Symbia Labs
TASCAM's desktop software for the Model mixers doesn't give you much. Bias does.
Plug your Model 2400, 12, 16 or 24 into your Mac and you get a proper meter bridge for every channel and track, a counter that follows the recorder, and your armed tracks at a glance. Drop markers and notes while you record. Bias logs every take.
Then put your own Audio Unit plugins on any channel, on the way in or on playback, and print them straight to the SD card.
METER BRIDGE Channel and tape levels for every strip, on one screen, while you track and while you play back. Armed tracks light up when you arm them on the mixer.
INSERTS Every channel gets two plugin slots and a tape slot. Switch a channel to USB and whatever you load is what it records. Want plugins on something you already recorded? Bounce it to another channel and run it through that channel's plugins.
BOUNCE AND MIXDOWN Send any channel, plugins and all, to another channel's input. Send several to one stereo channel and you've got a mixdown bus with its own plugins. You hear it through the mixer while you set it up, and you print it by arming that track.
MARKERS, NOTES AND TAKES Hit M and a marker drops where the recorder is. Mark sections, punch points, problems, ideas and lyrics, add notes, rate your takes. Every pass gets logged, every edit gets saved with who made it, and you can export it all as CSV. Each song keeps its own plugins, markers, takes, notes and tempo.
MIDI AND MCP Map any plugin knob, bypass, preset or marker to your MIDI controller. Right-click a control to learn it. Bias also runs an MCP server on your Mac, so Claude or another AI agent can read your meters, set up plugins and drop markers. It won't change anything while you're recording.
BIAS TAPE Our own multitrack tape emulation: saturation, bias, head bump, wow, flutter, hiss and crosstalk between tracks. Use it on one channel or all of them. Pick cassette or reels and the deck on screen changes to match.
WHAT YOU NEED A TASCAM Model 2400, 12, 16 or 24 connected to your Mac by USB. Some Audio Unit plugins. macOS 13 or later, Apple Silicon or Intel.
