DMCA and copyright
Last updated: October 26, 2026
macappia respects the rights of developers and other creators. App names, icons, screenshots and original descriptions on this site come from the developers through the Mac App Store and Setapp, and are shown to help people find and buy those apps. Summaries and benefit texts are written by macappia.
If you believe something on macappia infringes your copyright, tell us and we will look into it promptly. If you simply want your app’s listing corrected or removed, you do not need a formal notice: just write to us.
Where to send a notice
Email [email protected] with “DMCA notice” in the subject line.
What a notice must include
Under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)), a notice must contain:
- Your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough), as the copyright owner or a person authorized to act for them.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed.
- Identification of the material on macappia you want removed, with the exact URL(s), so we can find it.
- Your contact details: name, postal address, phone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
Incomplete notices may delay our response. Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages (17 U.S.C. § 512(f)).
What happens next
When we receive a valid notice, we remove or disable access to the material and, where we can, let the person who provided it know. Most content here comes from app store listings, so we may also suggest that you contact the store.
Counter-notice
If material you provided was removed and you believe it was a mistake or misidentification, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. It must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and the URL where it appeared.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address and phone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, outside the US, any judicial district where macappia may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
After a valid counter-notice, we may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days unless the original sender tells us they have filed a court action.
Repeat infringement
We will stop using sources that repeatedly provide infringing material.
