About FR[AI]ME
FR[AI]ME by AINOSTICS™ brings medical image previews directly to macOS Quick Look. Built for researchers, students, and medical professionals, it helps you inspect imaging data without opening a full imaging suite.
Select an image in Finder and press the spacebar to preview DICOM (.dcm), NIfTI (.nii, .nii.gz), and FreeSurfer (.mgh, .mgz) files. Select a folder to browse its images from a single preview window.
INCLUDED FREE
• Static image previews: View anatomical images across three planes. For 4D files, preview the first volume. • Folder browsing: Choose which image to preview from a directory. • Colormaps and legends: Change colormaps and view colourbar legends and scale bars. • Image metadata: Inspect image dimensions, voxel spacing, data types, and other file information. • FreeSurfer segmentation support: Automatically apply the FreeSurfer lookup table to recognised segmentation files.
EXPLORE MORE WITH PREMIUM
• Interactive navigation: Move the cursor through the image to explore slices across three planes and inspect voxel values. • Image overlays: Display compatible images together to compare segmentations, maps, and anatomical images. • 4D volume browsing: Navigate individual volumes using the volume slider. • Time-series plots: Inspect how voxel intensity changes across volumes. • Diffusion visualisation: Explore available diffusion gradient information with an interactive b-vector sphere. • DICOM series previews: Combine supported DICOM series into 3D or 4D previews. • Orientation settings: Choose neurological or radiological display conventions.
QUICK LOOK IN YOUR WORKFLOW
Quickly browse datasets, check image contents, and inspect files before opening specialised analysis tools.
FR[AI]ME also works in compatible third-party apps that support Quick Look, including Cyberduck and ForkLift, helping you preview files stored on remote servers. Availability and file transfer behaviour depend on the app.
Static previews and the features listed under “Included Free” require no subscription. Premium features require an auto-renewable subscription. Your subscription supports continued development, new features, and format support.
DICOM support is experimental and does not cover the full DICOM standard. If you encounter data that does not render correctly, please contact us to help improve compatibility.
FR[AI]ME is not a medical device and should not be used for diagnostic, prognostic, or monitoring purposes.
