HealthGuard News Ratings

HealthGuard News Ratings helps you assess health information sources while browsing, using analyst-reviewed site ratings. It is for personal use when reading health news or medical advice online.

by NewsGuard Technologies. Inc.

What you get

You can spot unreliable health sources before trusting their advice.

When you read health news or look up medical claims, you get a way to judge the source—not just how convincing a page sounds. HealthGuard shows ratings for hundreds of health and medical information sites reviewed by trained analysts against nine journalistic criteria. You can distinguish sources that meet basic accuracy and transparency standards from those flagged for unreliable information.

You see green ratings for generally credible sites and red ratings for sites publishing misinformation, such as unsupported treatments or bogus studies. Warnings on links to unreliable sites help you approach their claims with caution as you browse.

You still need to discuss health concerns with your doctor: a green rating does not mean every claim applies to your situation, and HealthGuard does not provide medical advice. You can use it for personal browsing, but commercial use is prohibited.

You get site-level credibility ratings based on trained analysts’ reviews, rather than relying on a page’s appearance or persuasive wording.
