FIT File Explorer
FIT File Explorer is an open-source Mac utility for inspecting FIT files. You can explore raw data, view graphs and GPS tracks, and export tables if you develop software or prefer examining the underlying records.
by Brice Rosenzweig
What you get
You can see what’s inside your FIT files, beyond a summary.
You get a detailed view of the information stored in your FIT files, rather than a simplified activity overview. FIT File Explorer lets you examine the underlying fields and records on your Mac, making it useful when you need to understand a file’s contents or work with FIT data as a developer.
For tables with many entries, such as records or laps, you can click a column to see its data plotted on a graph. If your file includes GPS coordinates, you can also see the recorded track on a map.
You can download and open a FIT file directly from your Garmin account, or export data tables from one or multiple files as CSV files for further analysis elsewhere.
-
Inspect the underlying records
You can examine the information stored in a FIT file instead of relying on a condensed activity summary.
-
See columns as graphs
You can plot the last column you clicked in tables with many entries, including records and laps.
-
View recorded routes
You can see a track on a map when your FIT file contains GPS coordinates.
-

-
Open Garmin files directly
You can download and open a FIT file from your Garmin account through the app’s File menu.
Best for

Skip it if
You only want an easy-to-read activity summary rather than access to raw fields and records.
