SmartPlay gives you extra controls over videos you watch in Safari on supported sites, including Netflix, YouTube, and Prime Video. You can speed through slower sections, slow down dialogue to catch unfamiliar words, or jump back 60 seconds when you miss something. The controls appear over the video player, so you can make adjustments while watching.
You can add your own SRT or VTT subtitles, including multiple subtitle files, and change their size, position, colors, and timing to make them easier to follow. If the picture looks too dark or washed out, you can adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation with a live preview, or zoom and reposition the video.
On Netflix, you can let intros and recaps skip automatically, check IMDb ratings and vote counts before committing to a title, and browse hidden categories. These Netflix-specific extras don’t apply to every supported streaming site.
