Swift Playground

Swift Playground gives you a guided way to learn Swift and SwiftUI, even without coding experience, and progress from interactive puzzles to building your own Apple apps.

by Apple

What you get

You can go from your first coding puzzle to your own Apple app.

You get a place to start coding without needing previous experience. Guided lessons introduce programming concepts through puzzles, and you see your instructions play out in an interactive 3D world. When something is unclear, you can consult built-in explanations or step through code one line at a time.

As you move beyond exercises, you can explore sample projects and build your own apps with SwiftUI. Live previews show what your changes do as you type, so you can experiment and check the result immediately. Code suggestions, error hints, and automatic formatting help you spend less time on typing and common mistakes.

Your work can grow beyond a lesson: you can share projects, move app projects between Swift Playground and Xcode, and submit completed apps through App Store Connect.

  • Start without coding experience

You learn programming basics through guided puzzles, with explanations and built-in help when you need them.

  • Understand what your code does

You see results immediately and can follow individual lines as they run in playground books.

  • Build your own apps

You turn lessons into SwiftUI apps, checking interface changes live as you type.

  • Take projects further

You can share your work, continue app projects in Xcode, or submit completed apps through App Store Connect.
