What you get

You can sign in without memorizing a different password for every account.

With 1Password 7, you can create unique passwords for your accounts and keep them behind one password you remember. You can fill logins, card details, and addresses in your browser instead of typing them each time, and access your saved information across your computers and mobile devices.

You can spot reused passwords, passwords found in known leaks, and accounts affected by compromised websites. You can also find accounts that offer two-factor authentication. Beyond logins, you can keep identity details, bank information, notes, and documents together, separate personal and work information into different vaults, and securely share credentials with your family or team.

Before you start, note that 1Password 7 is being retired: the developer advises upgrading to 1Password 8 to avoid interruption. Full access requires an active membership; without one, you can use version 7 in read-only mode.

  • Less typing at sign-in

You can fill usernames, passwords, payment details, and addresses directly in your browser.

  • Know which passwords need changing

You can identify reused or leaked passwords and get alerts about compromised websites.

  • Keep private information organized

You can separate work and personal records into vaults and find saved details using tags, favorites, and search.

  • Share credentials securely

You can give family members or teammates access to shared passwords through family and team accounts.

Best for

  • You manage many online accounts
  • You share logins with family or teammates
  • You want passwords and sensitive documents stored together

Skip it if

You should skip version 7 if you want a long-term starting point, because it is being retired and the developer recommends version 8.
