What you get

You get dark mode that follows your day, not just the clock.

You can make your Mac switch appearance when it suits your surroundings. Solace lets you move sunrise and sunset changes up to an hour earlier or later, choose fixed times, or switch manually with a keyboard shortcut from any app. You can also have dark mode turn on when cloud cover reaches your chosen level, rather than waiting until evening.

You get precise control over screen warmth, from 6500K to 1900K, and decide when it starts—even if you prefer a warm screen all day. Your light and dark modes can each have their own wallpaper, with every display changing together.

You manage these choices from the menu bar without creating an account. Your location stays on your Mac and is used only to calculate sunrise and sunset; weather data comes from Apple’s WeatherKit.

  • Switch at the right time

You can shift sunrise and sunset changes by up to an hour or choose your own fixed schedule.

  • Go dark on cloudy days

You can trigger dark mode at your chosen cloud-cover level instead of waiting for sunset.

  • Choose your screen warmth

You can set an exact temperature between 1900K and 6500K and choose when it takes effect.

  • Match wallpapers to each mode

You can give light and dark modes separate wallpapers that switch together across your displays.

  • Override the schedule

You can switch appearance with a keyboard shortcut without leaving the app you’re using.

Best for

  • You want dark mode earlier on overcast days
  • You prefer precise screen warmth settings
  • You want coordinated day and night wallpapers across displays

Skip it if

You don’t need it if macOS’s built-in appearance schedule and Night Shift controls already suit you.
