What you get

Keep your apps within reach without filling your Dock with icons.

You get a way to keep your apps close without giving each one a permanent place in your Dock. Arrange them into groups such as Work or Design, then reach them through one Dock icon or the menu bar. When you open a group, you see a panel where you can choose the app you need.

You can give a frequently used group its own Dock icon, name, and appearance. Open groups with a global hotkey or Siri, and use Command-1 through 9 to launch apps while the panel is open. Adjust the panel’s size, position, and layout so your groups are easier to browse.

Your setup stays on your Mac, with no account to create, no cloud storage, and no tracking.

  • Fewer Dock icons

You can reach grouped apps from one icon instead of keeping every app pinned separately.

  • Apps organized by task

You can keep work, design, or other sets of apps together and choose what you need from a group panel.

  • Less mouse navigation

You can open groups with a global hotkey or Siri, then launch apps using numbered keyboard shortcuts.

  • Your setup stays local

You can organize your apps without creating an account or storing your groups in the cloud.

Best for

  • You have more frequently used apps than you want pinned in the Dock
  • You use different sets of apps for different tasks
  • You prefer keyboard access to your app groups

Skip it if

You probably don't need it if your Dock already feels manageable and you're happy with how you launch apps.

From the developer

DockGroups is an app launcher that lives in your Dock. Sort your apps into groups — Work, Design, whatever fits — and open any of them from a single icon instead of a crowded Dock. Click a group and a tidy panel pops up right where you clicked, ready to launch. Want a group to feel like its own app?
