EyeBuddy
Protect Your Eyes
EyeBuddy helps you take regular eye breaks during long sessions on your Mac, with reminders that adapt to your typing, calls, and Focus settings.
by Javier Gallo Roca
What you get
Give your eyes regular rests without interrupting calls or typing.
EyeBuddy helps you remember to stop focusing on your screen throughout the day. You can follow the 20-20-20 routine: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. If that timing doesn’t suit you, you can choose your own intervals and break lengths, or add occasional longer rests.
You don’t have to work around a rigid timer. Breaks wait until you pause typing and won’t cover your screen during video calls or screen sharing. You can decide how reminders behave in each macOS Focus, exclude chosen apps, and snooze a break when you need more time. From the menu bar, you can check the countdown or skip, pause, and stop breaks.
You can also see how consistently you’re resting through a daily Eye Score, consecutive-break streaks, and a monthly calendar. Your statistics stay on your Mac, with no account, tracking, or internet connection required.
-
Remember to look away
You get regular prompts to rest your eyes instead of staying focused up close for hours.
-
Keep calls unobstructed
Your break screen stays out of the way during video calls and screen sharing, and waits while you type.
-
Rest on your schedule
You can adjust break timing, add longer rests, and choose how reminders behave in each Focus.
-
See your consistency
You can review your daily Eye Score, break streaks, and monthly history to understand your resting habits.
-
Keep your habits private
Your statistics remain on your Mac, without an account or online tracking.

Skip it if
You probably don’t need it if you already take regular screen breaks without reminders.

From the developer
Your eyes weren't made to stare at a screen all day. EyeBuddy reminds you to look away at the right moment, and stays out of your way the rest of the time. It follows the 20-20-20 rule recommended by eye care professionals: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet (6 meters) away for 20 seconds.Read the full description
