What you get

Give your videos custom animated titles, transitions, and effects.

With Motion, you can build moving titles, transitions, and visual effects for your videos and preview your work in real time. You can start with templates or create your own designs, turn flat text into 3D titles, and give lettering surfaces such as metal, wood, or stone. Animation behaviors let you add movement without setting keyframes.

You can make effects follow moving faces or objects, isolate parts of footage with masks, and add smoke, sparkles, or neon glows. For scenes with depth, you can combine 3D objects, cameras, lights, reflections, and animated shadows. You can also adjust focus and depth in footage shot using iPhone Cinematic mode.

If you edit in Final Cut Pro, you can reuse your Motion titles, effects, and transitions there. You can expose selected controls so you can adjust a template inside Final Cut Pro, and prepare versions for different aspect ratios.

  • Animate without keyframes

You can give text and graphics movement using ready-made behaviors rather than setting every change by hand.

  • Reuse your own designs

You can save custom titles, effects, and transitions for use in Final Cut Pro, with controls you choose to expose.

  • Keep effects following subjects

You can track moving faces or objects so added effects follow their movement.

  • Give titles depth

You can turn 2D text into 3D lettering and shape its appearance with materials, lighting, and shadows.

Best for

  • You edit in Final Cut Pro and need reusable custom graphics
  • You want animated titles without keyframing every movement
  • You create video effects or 3D title sequences

Skip it if

You probably do not need Motion if you only trim and arrange clips and have no need for custom animation or effects.
