What you get

You get tidier folders without sorting every file by hand.

You can clear a crowded Downloads folder, Desktop, or another selected folder without deciding where every file belongs yourself. Refolder uses AI to suggest destinations based on your folder structure. For an existing pile of files, you can review the proposed moves before approving the cleanup.

You can also keep new clutter from accumulating by letting Refolder watch selected folders and sort incoming files in the background. When you want to check what happened, you can open its activity feed from the menu bar rather than monitor each move as it happens.

You can give hundreds of files consistent names using presets or your own naming patterns, without opening Terminal. If you want on-device AI processing, you can choose Apple Intelligence on macOS 26 or later.

  • Clear existing clutter

You can scan a messy folder and approve suggested moves together instead of relocating files one by one.

  • Keep incoming files sorted

You can have new files sorted automatically in selected folders, reducing repeated cleanup.

  • Standardize file names

You can rename hundreds of files with presets or custom patterns, without using Terminal.

  • Check what moved

You can consult the activity feed when you want to see what Refolder has been doing.

Best for

  • You regularly accumulate files in Downloads or on your Desktop
  • You want to review suggested file moves before a cleanup
  • You need consistent names across large batches of files

Skip it if

You probably do not need it if your folders stay organized and you rarely rename more than a few files.
