What you get

Keep your music, files, and everyday tools within reach of your notch.

With NotchVinyl, you can check what’s playing and control your music from your MacBook’s notch instead of returning to the player. You get album artwork alongside playback controls, with support for Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, and YouTube Music. A floating desktop music widget can also keep your current track visible.

You can drag files into the notch to hold them temporarily, then reach them again or share them through AirDrop. Shortcuts let you open your favorite apps from the same spot, and one-click camera access saves you another trip through your apps.

You can also glance at your battery level, current weather, upcoming calendar events, and reminders at the top of your screen. Some of these conveniences require premium features: Spotify and YouTube controls, weather, calendar and mirror widgets, and desktop widgets.

  • Control playback nearby

You can check the current track and adjust playback from the notch rather than returning to your music app.

  • Keep files within reach

You can temporarily park files in the notch for quick access or AirDrop sharing.

  • Open everyday apps faster

You can create shortcuts to your favorite apps and launch them with one click from the notch.

  • Check essentials at a glance

You can see battery status near the notch, with weather and upcoming calendar events available through premium widgets.

Best for

  • You listen to music while working on a MacBook
  • You frequently move files between apps or share them through AirDrop
  • You want quick access to everyday apps near the notch

Skip it if

You don’t need it if your existing music controls, Dock, and Finder already give you quick enough access.
