What you get

Control your music without switching back to your player.

Silicio gives you a small desktop player so you can control music while keeping your main player out of the way. You can see album artwork, choose a theme, and use global keyboard shortcuts to control playback from whichever app you’re using.

You can check what’s playing through desktop widgets on macOS Sonoma or newer, or get a notification when a new track starts. That means you can identify a song without opening Apple Music, iTunes, or Spotify just to check its title.

If you use Last.fm, you can record your listening history through scrobbling. You can also mark songs you like in supported services, look up song and artist information online, and move forward or backward within podcasts playing in iTunes or Spotify.

  • Stay in your current app

You can control playback with global keyboard shortcuts instead of switching back to your music player.

  • See what’s playing

You can check artwork and song details through desktop widgets on macOS Sonoma or newer.

  • Keep your listening history

You can scrobble the songs you play to your Last.fm profile.

  • Move through podcasts

You can fast-forward or rewind podcasts playing in iTunes or Spotify.

Best for

  • You listen to music while working in other apps
  • You want album art and track details on your desktop
  • You track your listening on Last.fm

Skip it if

You don’t need Silicio if your music player’s own controls are enough and you don’t want desktop artwork, widgets, or listening-history integration.
